Central Small Groups Director

Fern Park Campus | Full-Time | Central Department

Purpose of the Job:

  • Directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and day-to-day affairs of the Small Groups of the church and campuses.

Experience and Knowledge Required:

●  Ability to innovate new systems and implement them.

●  Understanding of Journey culture, systems and vision.

●  Willingness to have the tough conversations to learn and grow.

●  Ability to build relationships in order to assess, advise and direct a person’s appropriate next steps.

●  Ability to recruit, lead and equip leaders to lead successful teams and small groups.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

●  Weekly Connection with leaders

●  30 min One on one with the Fern Park Campus Pastor Weekly

●  Meet with Hub Coaches monthly and ensure they meet with leaders monthly.

●  Create and Manage Planning Center


●  Evaluate effectiveness of current systems

●  Communicate any needs to the Fern Park Campus Pastor

●  Manage day-to-day functions and integration of the Small Groups

●  Oversee, coordinate, and implement plans for recruiting new leaders and coaches, leadership development and leader retention to sustain growth in all hubs.

●  Facilitate and oversee Small Group Leadership Trainings and interviews.

●  Ensure all Small Groups materials and campaign items are ordered, received and available for semester launch (banners, Coach’s playbooks, Leadership Training Manuals, etc.).

●  Oversee and manage small groups’ data administration, including but limited to the Small Groups Database, surveys, and PCO

●  Provide pastoral leadership for Small Group Leaders at campus.

●  Communicate emails/slack within 24 hours.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

●  Assist with any campus needs

●  Attend Sunday services. (Arrive 30 minutes before services begin and depart 30 minutes after services end.)

●  Attend all church events.

●  Work with interns and instruct JLA students as needed.

●  Ensure cross communication among departments as it relates to areas of Small Groups.

●  Study other churches and organizations to monitor processes and best practices.
